Aikido is balance

Do you believe that someone can become more confident, powerful and serene just with one thing? If you want to change yourself let me recommend you Aikido.
First, you need to know that Aikido is not like any other Martial Art you have ever known. Unlike many other Martial Arts, in Aikido there isn’t a competition because the main aim isn’t to win others but to defend ourselves against attacks and what it’s more important: to balance our body and mind. But not only this, Aikido is a lifestyle.
One of the surprises you will face if you start Aikido is that you don’t need strength, not even being athletic, in order to be capable of perform the techniques because it is based on the rival’s strength and his inertia. In the beginning you will think that it’s all completely wrong, that you are just terrible at it but as my master always told me “Haste makes waste”.
Besides all the physical improvement that involves doing a sport, the benefits for the mind are huge. My personal experience is that it changes your mind: from being a hesitant and dull teenager I became a young girl more confident even if I all my partners were full-grown men, and this without forgetting that I am not scare any more of being attacked because I know I can defend myself.
Aikido is the most complete activity you can imagine so encourage yourself and learn how to manage your life with harmony because I can assure you, Aikido is worth a try.

Coca de llanda

Today I’m going to post one of my favourite cakes: the coca de llanda or boba, I think it’s a typical Valencia cake. When I was little, my grandmother cooked it every time her granddaughters and grandsons were in her house, so it’s her recipe I just add a bit of colour =D!!!

Ingredients (in cups of tea):

- 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
- ½ cup of milk
- 1 cup of sugar
- 3 eggs
- ½  of oil or butter
- 3 teaspoons of baking powder
- Grated lemon rind
- A bit of red coloring

Directions:

- Preheat oven to 350ºF (or 175ºC).
- In a big bowl, add the eggs and the sugar and beat until the sugar has mixed with the eggs.
- Add then the milk, the yogurt and the oil beating fast. Then, throw the flour carefully while beating and finally the baking powder, the grated lemon rind and the coloring
- Grease the cake tin with butter, add the mixture and put it into the oven around 30-40 minutes or until you prick the centre of the cake with a knife and it appears clean.

Enjoy it!!!

My name is Irene, I'm 19 and currently I live in Valencia. I'm studying a degree named English studies at the University of Valencia. I chose it because I have always loved languages and English is one of the most important.

My blog is named after a Catherine Tate's catchphrase because she is someone I admire a lot.  I don't really know much about a blog but I will find out!
Bye-bye~~
